Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 189,460: report

Around 189,460 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country in February last year, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 3,694 tanks, 7,181 armored fighting vehicles and 2,905 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces "eliminated" 540 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 543 multiple launch rocket systems, 294 air defense systems, 308 warplanes, 294 helicopters, 18 warships, and 2,467 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea more than 14 months ago, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Friday is day 429 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
