"Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations in at least three directions and made further limited territorial gains on June 13," the Institute for the Study of War said in its latest analysis of Russia's military campaign in Ukraine.
The Washington-based think tank cited Ukrainian Deputy Defence Minister Hanna Malyar as saying that Ukrainian forces advanced by 250 meters northeast of the frontline city of Bakhmut and by 200 meters south of Bakhmut.
Malyar also reported that "Ukrainian forces advanced 500-1,000 meters in the past 24 hours around the administrative border between Zaporizhia and Donetsk oblasts, liberating around three square kilometers of territory in the area," according to the ISW.
Ukrainian General Staff spokesman Andriy Kovalev said that Ukrainian forces have liberated over 100 square kilometers of territory since beginning counteroffensive operations, according to the US think tank.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian Ministry of Defense Environmental Safety Department and Mine Action representative Maj. Vladyslav Dudar said on Tuesday that Russian forces were "regularly destroying small dams in localized areas of southern Ukraine to disrupt Ukrainian counteroffensive operations," the ISW reported.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
