The Operational Command of Poland's Armed Forces said in a statement that "all necessary procedures have been initiated to ensure the safety of Polish airspace."
It added that it was "monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis."
The statement also said that "Polish and allied aircraft have been activated," cautioning the public of "increased noise levels, particularly in the southeast of the country."
The alert was in effect for about two hours, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
Russia launched a fresh wave of missile strikes on Kharkiv and other Ukrainian cities on Friday morning, according to officials.
The attack left two civilians dead and at least 14 others injured, Ukrainian authorities said.
The strikes disrupted power supplies in some areas, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
