Poland marks World Refugee Day

Poland on Thursday marked World Refugee Day, an international day designated in 2000 by the United Nations to honor refugees around the globe.

World Refugee Day falls each year on June 20 and shines a light on the rights, needs and dreams of those forced to flee their homes due to armed conflicts, violence or persecution.

This year, the initiative under the theme “For a World Where Refugees Are Welcome” focuses on the universal right to belong—"a celebration of home and family, no matter where you’re from."
