The attack, which took place on the night of August 18, 2024, marks the third such strike on the Ukrainian capital this month.

"This is already the third ballistic strike on the capital in August, with exact intervals of six days between each attack," Serhiy Popko, the head of the Kyiv military administration, said on the Telegram messaging app.

The missiles used in these attacks are believed to be of North Korean origin, specifically the KN-23 ballistic missiles, Popko said.

In addition to the ballistic missiles, Ukrainian forces also downed a number of Russian drones, including eight Shahed-131/136 attack drones.

General Mykola Oleschuk, the commander of Ukraine's Air Force, confirmed that Ukrainian air defense units, mobile firing groups, and electronic warfare units were involved in repelling the attack.

Despite the intensity of the attack, there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage in Kyiv.
