This visit is the first by an Indian Prime Minister to Ukraine since its independence in 1991, and during his trip, Modi will discuss potential peaceful solutions to the conflict with Russia with President Zelensky.

The Indian Prime Minister and the Ukrainian President have already paid tribute at the Martyrologist Exposition in Kyiv.

„The conflict is particularly devastating for young children. My heart goes out to the families of those who lost their lives, and I pray that they find the strength to endure their grief,” conveyed Narendra Modi via social media.

Earlier today, during his visit to Kyiv, Modi met with members of the Indian community in Ukraine and paid tribute at the Mahatma Gandhi monument.

In July, on the exact day when a Russian missile struck a children’s hospital in Kyiv, killing 30 people, Modi had met with Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

Zelensky had then criticized the timing of Modi's meeting with Putin as a "great disappointment and a severe blow to peace efforts."

In June, Modi and Zelensky discussed the conflict at the G7 summit in Apulia, Italy, where Modi assured the Ukrainian President that India would do everything possible to support a peaceful resolution to the conflict.

On Thursday, during a meeting with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk, Modi expressed "deep concern" over both the conflict in Ukraine and the situation in the Middle East.

Modi emphasized India's belief that no issue can be resolved through warfare and reiterated support for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability, offering India's assistance along with friendly nations.
