After the meeting, Sikorski took to X to thank Rubio for "a good conversation about our close transatlantic cooperation."
"Our alliance remains strong," Sikorski declared.
He told reporters after the talks that "the new US administration is still in the process of formulating its intentions," according to the Polish foreign ministry.
"I thanked the US secretary of state for choosing Poland as the destination for the defence secretary's first foreign trip," Sikorski said, referring to a recent visit to Warsaw by Pete Hegseth.
He added that the United States "views Poland as a model ally, consistently meeting NATO’s defence spending target for the past 20 years, as recommended at the alliance's Wales summit."
"Today, Poland spends more than twice that recommendation," he noted.
The US State Department said in a statement that Rubio and Sikorski "reaffirmed the importance of U.S.-Polish relations and discussed ways to further strengthen our partnership, especially in defense and energy."
During the meeting Rubio "underlined President Trump’s determination to bring a durable end to the conflict in Ukraine," it added.
Rubio also "expressed strong appreciation for the example that Poland is setting through their defense spending, and the leadership they continue to bring to the Alliance," according to the statement.
The meeting between Sikorski and Rubio came a day before Polish President Andrzej Duda is due to meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington, according to media reports.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
