Sikorski told reporters that his meeting with Rubio at the US State Department "confirmed the durability of the Polish-American alliance."
He added that his conversation with the US secretary of state was "substantive and cordial."
'The issue of war and peace in Europe'
The main topic of discussion was "the issue of war and peace in Europe," he said.
"I got the impression that the United States is committed to achieving lasting peace" in Ukraine, Sikorski told reporters, adding that "sooner or later, Europe will take part in the peace process in Ukraine."
Sikorski also revealed that he discussed US troop levels in Poland with Rubio.
"I emphasised that American soldiers are welcome here in the same numbers as they are now, if not more. This is a matter of national consensus," Sikorski said.
'The invitation was accepted'
He told the media that he had invited Rubio to visit Poland and that "the invitation was accepted."
The date of the visit has yet to be confirmed, though it may take place in July during a high-profile conference of Polish ambassadors in Warsaw, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.
The Polish foreign ministry said in a statement on Saturday that Sikorski's conversation with Rubio focused on the war in Ukraine.
'Framework for lasting peace'
During the meeting, Sikorski "emphasised the need to establish a framework for lasting peace and reassured that Europe would support Ukraine in its fight for as long as it takes," the statement added.
The discussions also covered the plan for Western countries to use frozen Russian assets, as well as "the need to maintain effective sanctions against Russia," according to the Polish foreign ministry.
Sikorski and Rubio also addressed transatlantic relations and bilateral cooperation, especially in defence and energy, the statement said.
"They emphasised the importance of the Polish-American alliance, outlining the prospects for its further development," it added.
The ministry also noted that Sikorski and Rubio had previously spoken by phone on January 23.
'Our alliance remains strong'
Sikorski on Friday took to X to thank Rubio for "a good conversation about our close transatlantic cooperation."
"Our alliance remains strong," Sikorski declared.
He told reporters after the talks that "the new US administration is still in the process of formulating its intentions," according to the Polish foreign ministry.
"I thanked Secretary Rubio for the fact that US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth chose Poland as the destination for his first foreign trip," Sikorski said, referring to a recent visit to Warsaw by Hegseth.
'A model ally'
Sikorski added that the United States "views Poland as a model ally, consistently meeting NATO’s defence spending target for the past 20 years, as recommended at the alliance's Wales summit."
"Today, Poland spends more than twice that recommendation," he noted.
'Strong appreciation for the example Poland is setting'
The US State Department said in a statement that Rubio and Sikorski "reaffirmed the importance of U.S.-Polish relations and discussed ways to further strengthen our partnership, especially in defense and energy."
During the meeting Rubio "underlined President Trump’s determination to bring a durable end to the conflict in Ukraine," it added.
Rubio also "expressed strong appreciation for the example that Poland is setting through their defense spending, and the leadership they continue to bring to the Alliance," according to the statement.
The meeting between Sikorski and Rubio came a day before Polish President Andrzej Duda is due to meet with US President Donald Trump in Washington, according to media reports.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
