The air force shot down 57 drones and another 45 drones did not reach their targets, likely due to electronic countermeasures, it said.
The military did not specify what happened to the remaining 29 drones, the Reuters news agency reported.
"Russian invaders attacked Ukraine with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles launched from the Kursk region, 131 Shahed attack UAVs and decoy drones of various types launched from Millerovo, Kursk, Bryansk, Orel and Primorsko-Akhtarsk," the Ukrainian air force said in a statement on the Telegram messaging app, as cited by Ukrinform.
The statement added that "the air raid was repelled by anti-aircraft missile troops, electronic warfare units, and mobile fire groups," according to Ukrinform.
Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday that Russia had fired more than 1,000 drones against his country over the past week.
Russia invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on February 24, 2022, starting the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II.
Monday is day 1,131 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
