In a post on X, the social media platform, the bureau wrote it was maintaining “the position of President Karol Nawrocki and our own, that until the publication by [the daily newspaper] Rzeczpospolita of information about this incident, the President and the BBN had not received a report on the actual circumstances.”
The bureau rejected a separate report by TVN24+ that a classified memo reached the BBN on September 12 concerning repeated violations of Polish airspace by Russian drones during the night of September 9–10.
According to TVN24+, the memo said a stray anti-air missile, not a drone or debris, hit a house in Wyryki.
“The TVN24+ service falsely insinuates that on a specific day, September 12, 2025, a classified document describing the incident in Wyryki was delivered to the National Security Bureau,” the BBN said.
The BBN added that the President is still waiting for “a comprehensive report” on the Wyryki incident and said the handling of classified documents inside the bureau is not a matter for public debate.
It also addressed Jacek Dobrzyński, spokesman for the minister who coordinates Poland’s special services, noting that confidential information cited by TVN24+ through “a source in the government” may have been obtained improperly.
Earlier, Rzeczpospolita, citing anonymous security officials, reported on Tuesday that the damage to the Wyryki home had been caused by a stray anti-air missile fired from a Polish F-16 fighter jet, not by a falling drone.
Deputy Foreign Minister Marcin Bosacki had shown a photo of the damaged house last week at a meeting of the United Nations Security Council requested by Poland.
Bosacki disputed the BBN’s account on Wednesday, telling Polish Radio 3 that it was not true the President and the BBN were left in the dark about the airspace violations and the damage in Wyryki.
He said senior military commanders kept the BBN, the President’s security office, informed on an ongoing basis.
“If the President or his circle feel they lack details, instead of issuing heavy-sounding statements from the BBN, they should make a normal call and ask,” he said.
President Nawrocki said on Tuesday that his staff had briefed him on the circumstances, and that he was concerned and still did not know the full truth of what happened. He repeated that neither he nor the BBN had, to that point, received an official report on the matter.
Polish authorities said that during Russia’s overnight attack on Ukraine from September 9 to 10, drones repeatedly violated Poland’s airspace and defensive procedures were activated. Drones that posed a direct threat were shot down by Polish and allied aircraft.
Officials said it was the first time in modern Polish history that the Air Force used live weapons in the country’s own airspace.
In Wyryki-Wola, the blast destroyed a home’s roof, cracked exterior walls, and damaged a car. On September 10, building inspectors said the family could return to the ground floor while repairs continued.
