Help is most readily offered by women, university graduates and residents of mid-sized cities, the survey found, according to Polish state news agency PAP.
73% of Polish women are helping Ukraine
Almost three in four Polish females, or 73 percent, have taken part in various initiatives to support their country's eastern neighbour. Among men, the figure is 59 percent, the study showed.
Mid-sized cities ready to help
Geographically, help for Ukraine is the most widespread in medium-sized Polish cities, reaching 74 percent of the population, according to the poll.
These locations include Kielce and Rzeszów in the southeast, as well as the northern city of Toruń, according to the survey, which was commissioned by Santander Consumer Bank.
Four in five university graduates supporting Ukraine
Around 80 percent of Polish people with university degrees have been helping Ukraine, along with 66 percent of those with a secondary education and 56 percent of people with a primary education.
Number of those helping 'likely to rise even further'
Among income groups, those earning between PLN 4,000 (EUR 850) and PLN 5,000 (EUR 1,060) a month have been the most involved in assisting Ukraine, with the proportion reaching 81 percent.
“The number of Polish people helping Ukraine is likely to rise even further,” said Santander Consumer Bank’s spokeswoman Magdalena Grzelak.
The survey was carried out last month by pollster IBRIS through telephone interviews with a representative sample of 1,000 adult Poles.
The average gross Polish monthly wage last month was PLN 6,665.64 (EUR 1,434, USD 1,566), according to the country’s Central Statistical Office (GUS).
