Dozens of Poland’s WOT territorial army troops have already completed the course, which lasts several days, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Over 800 Polish soldiers to be trained by end of August
The Javelin course is part of a wider effort that also includes training for battlefield rescuers and snipers, officials said.
Under the programme, instructors from the US state of Illinois are expected to train more than 800 territorial army soldiers from across Poland by the end of August, officials said.
The courses are being held in the eastern province of Lubelskie and the northeastern Podlaskie region.
Learning from Ukraine war
According to the Polish military, the team-up with the US National Guard is designed “to speed up the training of WOT soldiers in anti-tank combat and precision fire, as well as increase the number of specialists in battlefield medicine.”
The aim is to “strengthen Poland’s defence capability and learn quickly from Ukraine’s defensive war against Russia,” officials told reporters.
More than 1,000 WOT troops are expected to complete the Javelin course by the end of this year, the Polish territorial defence force said in a statement.
Wednesday is day 98 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
