According to the UN’s World Food Programme, the number of people suffering from acute hunger is likely to increase by 47 million, or 17 percent, this year, if the war in Ukraine continues.
Sub-Saharan Africa is the most affected, as Ukrainian food is being blocked in the ports by Russia, officials said.

1.7 billion - the number of people across the world who are in danger of growing poverty due to the grain blockade and rising prices of food;
Nearly 5 million - the number of children who have had their education suspended;
269 - assaults on healthcare centres, killing at least 76 people;
Nearly 14 million - the number of people who have been forced to flee their homes (roughly a third of Ukraine's population);
9,197 - the number of civilian casualties that can be confirmed (4,183 killed; 5,014 injured).
