Magdalena Rzeczkowska was speaking at a meeting of the EU’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN) in Brussels on Tuesday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

At the meeting, EU finance ministers decided to provide EUR 1 billion in additional macro-financial assistance to Ukraine "as a matter of urgency," officials said.

Rzeczkowska said: “Poland welcomes the latest proposals regarding macro-financial assistance, but expects further resources to be allocated from the EU budget for expenses caused by the war in Ukraine, including for humanitarian assistance both in Ukraine and in the countries that host refugees.”

She added that the EU should continue to implement measures that support economic reconstruction and boost the resilience of economies in the face of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.

Wednesday is day 140 of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
