“The first six Stormer HVM vehicles have arrived on the front lines in Ukraine,” Ukraine’s Operational Command “South” said in a statement posted on Facebook on Monday night.
It added that these self-propelled anti-aircraft weapons can spot enemy planes up to 18 kilometres away, while remaining “invisible” themselves.
The Stormer HVM (High Velocity Missile) is a short range air-defence system used for protection from attack helicopters and low-flying aircraft, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
Ukraine's announcement came as the country continued to defend itself against the Russian invasion for the 152nd day.
Earlier on Monday, Ukraine’s Defence Minister Oleksii Reznikov announced that three Gepard self-propelled anti-air guns supplied by Germany had arrived in the country.
The delivery is the first batch of a total of 15 Gepards pledged by the government in Berlin, according to PAP.
"The first three Gepards officially came from Germany today ... These are anti-aircraft missile systems, to which tens of thousands of shells have been handed over to us,” Reznikov said, as quoted by the Interfax-Ukraine news agency.
Tuesday is day 153 of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
