Polish, German finance ministers discuss Ukraine aid, energy costs

The Polish and German finance ministers met in Warsaw on Thursday to discuss Europe's support for Ukraine and economic pressures driven by Russia's war in Ukraine, officials said.

Poland's Magdalena Rzeczkowska and Germany's Christian Lindner spoke about rising energy prices in Europe and ways to bring them down, public broadcaster Polish Radio’s IAR news agency reported.

"We talked about aid to Ukraine," Rzeczkowska told reporters after the meeting.

"It is important for us to maintain the support and make sure that financial as well as military assistance is provided smoothly and continuously in 2023," she said.

Lindner said that one of the main topics of his talks with Rzeczkowska was inflation, driven by soaring energy costs in Europe, the IAR news agency reported.

Thursday is day 253 of the Russiainvasion of Ukraine.
