Russian military death toll in Ukraine rises to 146,820: report

Around 146,820 Russian troops have been killed in Ukraine since Vladimir Putin invaded the country a year ago, according to Ukrainian military authorities.

The Russians have also lost 3,393 tanks, 6,600 armoured combat vehicles and 2,363 artillery systems during their military campaign in Ukraine, the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said on Friday, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

On Thursday alone, Ukrainian forces "eliminated" 970 Russian soldiers, according to the ukrinform.net website.

Other Russian losses in Ukraine include 474 multiple launch rocket systems, 247 air defence systems, 299 warplanes, 287 helicopters, 18 warships, and 2,033 unmanned aerial vehicles, ukrinform.net reported.

The British defence ministry said last Friday that Russian troop losses in Ukraine may have reached 200,000 casualties, including up to 60,000 dead.

According to data cited by The New York Times earlier this month, around 200,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in Ukraine since the start of the war on February 24, 2022.

Friday is day 366 of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
