The wax and paraffin, as well as finished candles, will be transported to Makarov near Kyiv, and then to the battlefront.
The authorities in Ukraine’s Makarov asked Płock for the support after the Polish city sent its last shipment of humanitarian aid to the war-stricken country in February this year, Alina Boczkowska of Płock City Hall told state news agency PAP.
“The collection of wax and paraffin is currently underway and can be delivered to three designated locations in the city ... The collection will last until the end of March”, Boczkowska told PAP.
“The transport of collected wax and paraffin will be taken to Makarov, and from there, after processing, along with ready-made trench candles, it will go to the front for Ukrainian soldiers”, Boczkowska said.
“As far as we know, the so-called trench candles will be sent for Ukrainian soldiers who are fighting in the Bakhmut region”, she added.
Since Russia’s invasion in February last year, Płock has delivered 18 transports of humanitarian aid, including food, hygiene products and medicines, to Ukraine.
