"During an overnight drone attack on the Odesa region, air defense forces destroyed all Shahed-131/136 drones," Ukraine's Operational Command South said in a statement.
"As a result of an air battle," debris from one of the drones fell onto an apartment building, causing a fire, it added, as cited by Ukrainian state news agency Ukrinform.
Air defences in the Odesa region shot down eight Shahed drones and two missiles in the latest spate of air strikes on Ukrainian cities in recent weeks, the Reuters news agency reported.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
Saturday is day 492 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
