Agata Kornhauser-Duda hosted the medical staff from Ukraine at the presidential palace in Warsaw on Thursday, Polish state news agency PAP reported.
The Ukrainian medics are participating in a course run by the Warsaw-based Military Institute of Medicine (WIM), learning how to treat war trauma and the effects of post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), as well as how to rehabilitate war-injured patients, according to officials.
The course is part of a wider programme of experience-sharing between Polish and Ukrainian medical staff, launched in October by the Polish first lady and her Ukrainian counterpart Olena Zelenska, the PAP news agency reported.
To date, some 90 doctors and other medical specialists from Ukraine have completed courses in aeromedical evacuation and comprehensive medical care of burn patients in Poland, according to officials.

‘Poland will support Ukraine for as long as it takes’: Polish first lady
During Thursday’s meeting at the presidential palace, medical specialists from Ukraine shared details of their training in Warsaw, the PAP news agency reported.
They told Kornhauser-Duda about their work, which involves helping soldiers as well as their loved ones, according to the Polish presidential office.
Kornhauser-Duda said she hoped that “the knowledge and skills acquired in Poland” would help Ukrainian medics “meet the needs of Ukrainian society in the face of Russian aggression” and bolster Ukraine’s health protection system.

Kornhauser-Duda told her guests: “I am sure that the time spent in Poland will enable you to exchange experiences and forge Polish-Ukrainian relations that will bear fruit in the future.”
She declared: “Poland will be helping Ukraine for as long as it takes.”
Ukrainian medics trained in Warsaw
The Warsaw course in the rehabilitation of war-injured patients is addressed to Ukrainian doctors, physiotherapists, nurses and paramedics, the PAP news agency reported.
Participants attend lectures and practical classes in helping people with head and brain injuries, patients with spine and spinal cord injuries, amputees in need of prosthetics and burn patients, according to officials.
Meanwhile, Ukrainian psychologists and psychiatrists are learning about the organisational and technical aspects of diagnosis and treatment of people suffering from war trauma and PTSD, the PAP news agency reported.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
Friday is day 478 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
