In early August, precise strikes rendered the Chonhar and Henichesk bridges, both vital for Russian military transportation, inoperable.
According to a recent daily intelligence update by the British Defense Ministry, Russian forces have been forced to resort to pontoon bridges positioned at Chonhar and Henichesk along the border between southern Ukraine and occupied Crimea. However, these provisional crossings struggle to support heavy vehicles loaded with ammunition and equipment, causing bottlenecks and delays in delivering essential supplies to combat zones.
The update also emphasized that the destruction of the bridges has led to a considerable detour via the town of Armiansk, located in northern Crimea.
While this route offers an alternative to the destroyed bridges, it "causes further friction in the Russian logistics network in the south," the intelligence update pointed out, alluding to the supply chain stress due to the disrupted infrastructure.
