Jens Stoltenberg made the comment in an interview with the Reuters news agency on Friday night.
Last week, Polish Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki said that currently his country was “not supplying Ukraine with any military equipment.”
Morawiecki added: “Poland is now arming itself, with state-of-the-art weapons.”
It came after Poland imposed a ban on Ukrainian grain imports for reasons of public and food security, and Ukraine responded by filing a lawsuit against Poland at the World Trade Organisation, according to news outlets.
NATO’s Stoltenberg told Reuters in an interview in Copenhagen: "I'm expecting and I'm confident that Ukraine and Poland will find a way to address those issues without that impacting in a negative way the military support to Ukraine.“
Poland elects a new parliament on October 15.
Voters will head to the ballot box to elect 460 new MPs and 100 senators for a four-year term.
The ruling conservative Law and Justice party and its government coalition allies have maintained a clear lead over the opposition in most recent surveys, polling ahead of the centrist Civic Coalition (KO), the far-right Confederation group, the Third Way coalition of the rural-based Polish People’s Party (PSL) and the centre-right Poland 2050 grouping, and The Left.
The ruling conservatives in 2019 won a convincing victory over opposition parties at the ballot box, securing a second term in power.
Friday is day 583 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
