Russian forces carried out the attack during the night into Thursday, the RBC-Ukraine news agency reported.
Oleh Syniehubov, the head of the Kharkiv regional military administration, said on the Telegram social messaging app: “The occupiers strike Kharkiv once again. A hit was recorded in one of the city districts. According to preliminary information, one man received injuries."
The official added: “A private house was damaged. Emergency services are working on the site."
In all, two people suffered injuries as a result of the strike, with one of them sustaining shrapnel wounds, the regional military administration later said.
A fire broke out on the site of the attack, the Ukrainska Pravda website reported.
Russia targets Ukraine’s Kharkiv region
Russian troops have been attacking Ukraine’s northeastern Kharkiv region on a near-daily basis, in particular border towns and frontline areas, the RBC-Ukraine news agency reported on Thursday.
On October 5, Russia struck the village of Hroza with missiles, killing a least 55 people, news outlets reported.
On October 6, a Russian strike on Kharkiv City killed a 10-year-old boy and injured at least 25 people, according to officials.
Russia shells Ukraine’s Kherson
Russia also bombarded Ukraine’s southern city of Kherson during the night, damaging residential buildings, the Ukrainska Pravda website reported.
The attack caused damage to apartment buildings in the Korabelnyi district, with the Dniprovskyi district and the city’s coastal areas also targeted, according to city authorities.
There was no immediate information about possible civilian casualties, while officials asked locals to stay in shelters, Ukrainska Pravda reported.
Ukraine advances against Russia in Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia
Ukrainian forces on Wednesday continued counteroffensive operations against Russia’s invasion near the eastern city of Bakhmut and in the southeastern Zaporizhzhia region, reportedly advancing in both sectors of the front, the Institute for the Study of War, a US think tank, said.
Ukrainian forces were successful east of Klishchiivka and Andriivka near Bakhmut in the Donetsk region, the General Staff in Kyiv reported.
In addition, Ukrainian forces improved their tactical positions west of Robotyne in Zaporizhzhia, according to Ukraine’s General Staff and Tavriisk Group Commander Brig. Gen. Oleksandr Tarnavskyi.
In its latest counteroffensive against Russia, Ukraine is pushing through Zaporizhzhia in the southeast, in a bid to reach the port of Melitopol on the Sea of Azov, among other objectives.
Thursday is day 596 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.
