"On the night of May 6, 2024, the Russian invaders attacked from the north with 13 Shahed-131/136 attack UAVs," the Ukrainian air force said on Monday morning.
"As a result of combat operations, mobile firing groups of the Ukrainian Defence Forces destroyed 12 enemy attack UAVs in Sumy region," it added, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.
The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine said in a statement that Russian forces "launched two missile and 120 air strikes, fired 89 times from multiple launch rocket systems" at the positions of Ukrainian troops and Ukrainian cities and villages.
It added that Ukrainian troops continued to "actively inflict losses in manpower and equipment on the occupation forces, depleting the enemy along the entire frontline."
In Ukraine's northeastern region of Sumy, a Russian drone attack temporarily disrupted power supply, officials said on Monday.
"Electricity supply has been restored in the affected settlements and parts of the city of Sumy," the region's military administration said on the Telegram messaging app, as cited by the Reuters news agency.
Kyiv's military also reported that Ukrainian aircraft "struck 13 areas of concentration of personnel and four enemy anti-aircraft missile systems" over the past day, while Ukrainian missile troops "struck one area of concentration of personnel, three radar stations, two air defence facilities, two artillery facilities and three other important enemy targets."
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Monday is day 803 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
