"On the night of June 5, 2024, the Russian forces attacked Ukraine with 27 Shahed-131/136 strike UAVs," the Ukrainian air force said on Wednesday morning.
"As a result of the air defense battle, 22 Shahed UAVs were shot down in the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Dnipropetrovsk, Sumy, and Poltava regions," it added, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.
In the central Poltava region, the attack damaged an industrial facility and injured one person, according to regional governor Filip Pronin.
In the southern region of Mykolaiv, debris from a drone destroyed a private home and damaged about 10 other buildings, the Reuters news agency reported, citing local authorities.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Wednesday is day 833 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
