Ukraine shoots down 17 of 18 Russian attack drones: military

Ukraine's air defence forces said they destroyed 17 of 18 attack drones launched by Russia against four Ukrainian regions overnight into Thursday.

"In the early hours of Thursday, June 6, 2024, Russia attacked Dnipropetrovsk region with two Iskander-M ballistic missiles ... and 18 Shahed-type UAVs," the Ukrainian air force said on Thursday morning.

"Seventeen one-way attack UAVs were shot down over the Mykolaiv, Kherson, Zaporizhzhia, and Khmelnytskyi regions," it added, as cited by state news agency Ukrinform.

The Russian attack caused a fire at an infrastructure facility in the Khmelnytskyi region, where one drone was shot down, the regional governor said, as cited by the Reuters news agency.
