"In the early hours of Saturday, June 22, the Russian army launched a missile and drone attack on critical infrastructure facilities in various regions of Ukraine, using air-, sea-, and land-based missiles, as well as Shahed-type UAVs," the Ukrainian air force said on Saturday morning.
It added that "the enemy launched a total of 16 missiles of various types and 13 attack UAVs," state news agency Ukrinform reported.
Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk said the country's air defence forces shot down "25 air targets: seven Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles; four Kalibr cruise missiles; an Iskander-K cruise missile; and 13 shock UAVs."
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Saturday is day 850 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
