Chasiv Yar is located in the Donetsk region, with the fiercest battles occurring near the Donets-Donbas canal, according to officials.
"To dislodge the Ukrainian military, the Russians are devastating the city with Solntsepyok heavy flamethrower systems. The TOS-1A systems, equipped with thermobaric warheads, produce a much more powerful impact force and blast wave than conventional explosives of the same size," the message stated.
The Ukrainian military emphasized that the use of these weapons is prohibited by the Geneva Convention, urging the world to take notice. "We record every crime of the occupiers," the statement asserts.
According to the American Institute for the Study of War, if Russian forces succeed in seizing Chasiv Yar, it could pave the way for an offensive on nearby Kostyantynivka, a long-term strategic target in the Donbas region.
Capturing these settlements may facilitate preparations for an assault on Kramatorsk and Sloviansk, the two most crucial cities in Donbas still under Ukrainian control.
