The report by the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission in the country reveals the devastating impact of Russia's full-scale invasion on civilians, highlighting a persistent trend of rising civilian casualties, according to the ukraine.ohchr.org website.
Nine children lost their lives and 76 were injured in Ukraine in September, while 46 percent of those killed were aged over 60, it said.
“Attacks using missiles across the country and aerial glide bombs, particularly against the cities of Kharkiv and Zaporizhzhia, contributed to the high casualty numbers,” the UN Human Rights Monitoring Mission said.
Near the frontline, attacks with unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) accounted for a large portion of the casualties, according to the report.
Most civilian casualties and the damage to educational and healthcare facilities were reported in areas controlled by Ukraine, the UN mission said.
At least 30 attacks damaged or destroyed energy infrastructure, it added.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Sunday is day 963 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
