According to a statement by the US Department of Defense, the new package includes munitions for rocket systems and artillery; mortar systems and rounds; armored vehicles; and anti-tank weapons.
The package, first announced by US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin during a visit to Kyiv, contains ammunition for High Mobility Artillery Rocket Systems (HIMARS); 155mm and 105mm artillery ammunition; 60mm, 81mm, and 120mm mortar systems and rounds; and Tube-launched, Optically tracked, Wire-guided (TOW) missiles, according to the Pentagon.
Washington will also provide Kyiv with Javelin and AT-4 anti-armor systems; M113 armored personnel carriers; satellite communication equipment; small arms and ammunition; grenades and training equipment.
Other capabilities include demolitions equipment and munitions; demolitions equipment and munitions; and equipment to protect critical national infrastructure, the statement said.
Since Russia invaded Ukraine in February 2022, the United States has committed around USD 59.5 billion in security assistance to help the country defend itself, the US Department of Defense said.
