The final date for the Patriotic March is two weeks later than originally planned. As announced via social media by the head of the Polish government, the new date is intended to allow for maximum mobilization of pro-democracy supporters, with the march scheduled to take place at noon in Warsaw.
The event is seen as a response to another rally organized by the opposition, right-wing Law and Justice (PiS) party, whose leader, Jarosław Kaczyński, called for a competing march on April 12 to celebrate symbolic milestones in Polish history.
Explaining the reason behind the date change during a press conference, Trzaskowski referred to the powerful energy of the 2023 pre-election marches in Warsaw and expressed his support for continuing that tradition.
