On Saturday, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced that PLN 10 billion (EUR 2.3 billion) will be allocated to strengthen Poland’s eastern border, including the development of a fortification system.
The survey, conducted before the announcement, asked participants: “In your opinion, should Poland build fortifications (barbed wire, bunkers, trenches) on the border with Russia and Belarus?” The results showed that 64.3% of respondents were in favor, 16.5% opposed, and 19.2% were undecided.
Support for building fortifications increases with age, with 67.2% of respondents over 50 years old supporting the measure, compared to 53.3% of those under 24 years old. Additionally, 66.3% of male respondents and 62.6% of female respondents expressed support for strengthening the border.
The survey was conducted online by SW Research on May 14 and 15, involving 800 participants over the age of 18.
