Tusk: "There would be no independent Poland without Lech Bądkowski"

Poland's prime minister honoured the Solidarity activist and press officer in Gdańsk today.

Poland's prime minister Donald Tusk gave his heartfelt thanks to the first Press Officer of Solidarity at the unveiling of a monument in honour of Lech Bądkowski - on the anniversary of the conclusion of the August Agreements that paved the way for Solidarity.  

Tusk expressed his thanks with a personal note to the "son of Gdańsk and Kashubia" - an origin Tusk and Bądkowski share:

Lech Bądkowski, first Press Officer of Solidarity, passed away on February 24 1984.
