Ursula von der Leyen met in Wrocław with the leaders of Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria.

The President of the European Commission emphasized that extraordinary situations require extraordinary measures, assuring that "the Union will stand with you in the months and years needed for reconstruction and recovery from this disaster."

"The EU Solidarity Fund can cover part of the damage. We can also use the flexibility of existing cohesion policy rules to mobilize up to €10 billion."

"Europe stands by your side," emphasized Ursula von der Leyen, assuring that European countries affected by the flood will receive assistance to help with their recovery.

"Total solidarity with the people affected by the floods in Central Europe. Through the EU Civil Protection Mechanism, the EU is working to provide emergency equipment.Later, when the time comes, we will help rebuild," the President of the European Commission conveyed via social media.

Poland is set to receive 5 billion PLN from the European Union for flood recovery, as announced by Jan Grabiec, head of the Prime Minister's Chancellery. This figure is half of the total aid promised by European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen to flood-affected countries, a plan she discussed with leaders from Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Austria in Wrocław.

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said after the meeting that each country will present a recovery plan for the flooded areas to the Commission and noted that reaching an agreement on the EU aid took 45 minutes.
