Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk said ahead of the gathering that "the West must maintain a unified stance on supporting Ukraine and ensuring common security."

On Wednesday and Thursday, Tusk is scheduled to attend a Nordic and Baltic summit hosted by Swedish Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson in Harpsund, about 120 km west of Stockholm, Polish state news agency PAP reported.

According to the Swedish government, the meeting will focus on transatlantic relations, security in the Baltic Sea region, and continued long-term support for Ukraine.

During the summit, Tusk and Kristersson are also expected to hold bilateral talks and sign a new strategic partnership agreement between Poland and Sweden.

The Nordic countries—Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland—along with the Baltic states of Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia form the so-called NB8 group.

Russia invaded Ukraine by land, air and sea on February 24, 2022, starting the largest military conflict in Europe since World War II.

Wednesday is day 1,008 of Russia's war on Ukraine.
