Prosecutors have already approached the national office of Interpol to issue a Red Notice for the former Deputy Minister of Justice. Investigators suspect that the PiS lawmaker is currently outside the country.
National Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk stated that Romanowski’s evasion of justice does not constitute an act of civil disobedience and that the case against him is not politically motivated.
While his actions complicate legal proceedings, Korneluk emphasized that they will not affect the final verdict, which will be based solely on the evidence collected.
Romanowski may be hiding in Hungary to avoid extradition, claims attorney Giertych
Roman Giertych, a lawyer and a member of Poland’s current ruling coalition, Civic Platform, told TVN24 that he believes Romanowski is hiding in Hungary, suggesting that Hungarian courts “may refuse to extradite him in response to a request from Polish prosecutors or courts concerning the European Arrest Warrant.”

After speculation that Romanowski might be staying in facilities belonging to the Catholic organization Opus Dei, its members issued a statement denying that the wanted politician is residing in any of their centers.
