Local authorities will honor this anniversary with several events, including the unveiling of a commemorative plaque at the European Solidarity Center, a flower-laying ceremony at the site of the attack, and the presentation of a special award named after Adamowicz.

As in previous years, the commemorations will feature the melody of The Sound of Silence by Simon & Garfunkel, which has become a poignant symbol of mourning for the slain politician.
The events will also include an interfaith prayer service, a "Patron’s Day" organized on January 14—the day of Adamowicz’s death—at a local high school named in his honor, and a memorial mass at St. Mary’s Basilica in Gdańsk, the largest brick church in Europe.
Six years ago, on January 13, 2019, Paweł Adamowicz was fatally stabbed on stage during the finale of a major charity event, the Great Orchestra of Christmas Charity (WOŚP). He passed away the following day.
The assailant responsible for the attack was sentenced to life imprisonment in a final court ruling.
