The talks come as senior US and Russian officials are set to meet in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia to discuss a possible agreement on ending the war in Ukraine.

The US envoy is expected to visit Ukraine later this week.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said on Sunday that the coming days and weeks would determine whether Russian leader Vladimir Putin is serious about making peace in Ukraine, according to Reuters.
Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine on February 24, 2022, starting the largest armed conflict in Europe since World War II.
Tuesday marks the 1,090th day of the war.
