Kwieciński will combine his new role with that of investment and development minister.
Until now Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki doubled as the country’s finance minister.
Morawiecki began combining the roles of head of government and finance minister after Marian Banaś at the end of last month gave up the finance portfolio to become head of Poland’s Supreme Audit Office (NIK).
The swearing-in ceremony for Kwieciński at the presidential palace in Warsaw on Friday came after “Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki asked President Andrzej Duda to appoint Jerzy Kwieciński as finance minister,” a government spokesman has said.
