On Saturday, Health Minister Łukasz Szumowski confirmed the sixth coronavirus case, saying this was another of the passengers who had been travelling in a coach with the first man diagnosed earlier this week as Poland’s first case of coronavirus infection.
The health ministry said on Sunday that both patients were in good condition and that already some of the people who may have been in contact with them were quarantined.
Under special rules that came into force in Poland on Sunday, people suffering from or suspected to have an infectious disease can be ordered to undergo treatment in hospital.
Employers will be able to instruct employees to work from home. The law also introduces a special allowance for parents who are forced to stay home and take care of their children if a nursery, kindergarten or school closes amid coronavirus fears.
The new virus, which emerged in the central Chinese city of Wuhan late last year, has since spread to more than 80 countries. This weekend, cases of infection were confirmed by Bulgaria.
