Anna Ostrowska told Poland’s PAP news agency on Thursday that “for the time being, it has not yet been decided whether students will continue to study remotely or return to full-time schooling beyond June 7.”
Earlier that day Deputy Education Minister Maciej Kopeć suggested in a media interview that the closure could be extended until the end of the school year on June 26.
Poland on March 12 shut all schools and universities for two weeks as part of efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus.
The closure was then extended until April 26 and later again until May 24.
The country’s education ministry said in March that about 95 percent of schools in Poland were ready for an extended period of distance learning amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Meanwhile, nurseries and preschools throughout the country have been given the green light to resume operations from May 6.
