Poland confirms 2,296 new coronavirus cases, 28 more deaths

Poland on Tuesday reported 2,296 new coronavirus infections and 28 more deaths, bringing the country's total number of cases during the pandemic to 2,808,052 and fatalities to 68,133.

Of the new cases confirmed on Tuesday, the most - 351 - were in the densely populated southern coal-mining region of Silesia.

Meanwhile, 278 new infections were reported in the central region of Mazowieckie, which includes the national capital Warsaw.

The latest deaths in Poland’s coronavirus outbreak are 22 people with pre-existing medical conditions and six who died directly because of COVID-19, the Polish health ministry said.

On Monday, Poland confirmed 37 deaths and 2,525 new coronavirus infections nationwide.

On April 8the country reported its highest daily toll of 954 deaths related to the coronavirus.

On April 1, the Polish health ministry confirmed 35,251 new single-day cases, the most since the pandemic hit the country more than a year ago.

Poland's first case of coronavirus infection was reported on March 4, 2020.
