Deputy Foreign Minister Paweł Jabłoński told journalists at a press conference in Warsaw on Sunday that EU institutions should have a system of support for those member countries, which are supplying the most aid to refugees from Ukraine.
He announced that he would be discussing the matter with European ministers and that Poland will be requesting real financial assistance in bearing the costs of the humanitarian crisis.
Minister Jabłoński also said that Poland was urging harsher sanctions against Russia.
Meanwhile Head of the President's Chancellery Michał Dworczyk announced the launch of a central online platform for coordinating humanitarian assistance to Ukraine. This, he said, enabled assistance from local administration, NGOs, private companies as well as individuals.
As he told journalists, when the war started, the government had appealed for assistance to be forwarded only via the Strategic Reserves Agency but now the situation had changed.
Information on how to find or give help can be found on new website pomagamukrainie.gov.pl available in Polish, Ukrainian and English.
This coming week, a bill on assistance to Ukraine is expected to be read by the Polish Parliament.
