The official's comments came a day after UK Defence Secretary Ben Wallace said Britain will deploy its Sky Sabre missile defence system to Poland and send about 100 more troops, as allies seek to bolster the security of the eastern flank of NATO amid Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
On Friday, Mariusz Błaszczak told public broadcaster TVP that the first tranche of the Sky Sabre air defence system will arrive in Poland in a few weeks.
The official said that Poland was preparing to "very quickly" create its own anti-aircraft defence, drawing on the British experience.
"It will be a combination of what we acquire abroad with what can be produced in our country. We care about time; we have nothing to lose," the Polish defence minister said.
The decision to expand Poland’s anti-arcraft system has been possible due to the recent adoption of the homeland defence bill, Błaszczak noted.
The law, whose aim is to bolster the ability of the Polish army to defend the country, was signed by President Andrzej Duda on Friday.
