Poland's Foreign Minister Zbigniew Rau is set to open the international conference in his role as chairman-in-office of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE), according to officials.
Decision makers including OSCE Secretary-General Helga Schmid are expected to attend the event, called the Second Preparatory Meeting of the 30th OSCE Economic and Environmental Forum.
The main topic of the forum is “promoting security and stability in the OSCE area through sustainable economic recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic,” according to the Polish foreign ministry.
The event will focus on efforts to "promote green recovery of economies and growth in all participating states of the OSCE," the Polish foreign ministry said in a statement ahead of the gathering.
It added that the Economic and Environmental Forum aims to foster political dialogue between the OSCE's 57 participating states on key economic and environmental issues related to security.
Poland took over the rotating presidency of the OSCE from Sweden in January, with Rau taking a role as the organization’s Chairperson-in-Office.
This is the second time Poland is chairing the organization, with its previous turn at the helm in 1998.
