The General Command of Poland's Armed Forces confirmed via social media that "during a training flight with a MiG-29 jet from the 22nd Tactical Air Base, sonic boom waves caused damage to the roofs of several buildings in the village of Szaleniec in the Malbork district" in Poland's north.
The incident took place on shortly before 10 a.m.
"In line with protocols, the military police station in Malbork and the State Aircraft Accident Investigation Commission are investigating the accident," the General Command said in a statement.
It added that "the Polish armed forces will cover all costs related to the repair of the damaged buildings, ensuring the highest diligence to restore the condition to what it was before the incident."
Firefighters shared photos of the damaged building roofs on Facebook.
