The annual trade show, which runs until September 6, will feature military equipment displayed by exhibitors from countries including the United States, Britain and the United Arab Emirates.

The four-day event will showcase "everything that has proven effective on the battlefield," according to Urszula Kołodziejczyk, a spokeswoman for the organisers.

"This includes large-scale weaponry, various technological and radar systems, as well as individual soldier equipment," she added.

Ukraine is the special guest nation at this year's exhibition, which will be attended by government officials from various other countries.

Top Polish officials, including President Andrzej Duda, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz and parliamentary Speaker Szymon Hołownia, are expected to be present.

First held in 1993, the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce is now in its 32nd year. It is billed as one of the largest events of its kind in the world.
