Offshore wind farms will become the northernmost point of Poland. New regulations facilitating and simplifying renewable energy production and usage, as well as increasing the protection of related critical infrastructure, will be included in a major amendment to the Offshore Act, which is being worked on - the country's Ministry of Climate and Environment informed.
Deputy Climate Minister Miłosz Motyka said that in the coming weeks an application will be submitted for entry of the amendment into the Council of Ministers' legislative works list. Next, it will be consulted with the industry - to adapt the regulations to the conditions at sea - eg. by creating special protective zones around the farms.
The Deputy Minister pointed out that ensuring safety will be very important, because of the strategic role of this infrastructure. He recalled that many comments from the industry, as well as from the relevant ministries, have already been noted and taken into account during the works on the amendment to the Onshore Wind Energy Act.
Electricity from the first Polish wind farm in the Baltic Sea is to start flowing in 2026. It will power one and a half million households. It will be the most advanced Polish offshore project ever - and the first offshore wind farm built using low-emission steel, produced almost exclusively from recycled raw material in blast furnaces powered by renewable energy.
