The Belarusian aerial vehicles were seen by residents in the northeastern Polish village of Białowieża, public broadcaster TVP Info reported.

The Polish Army’s Operational Command said that “no incursion into Polish air space has been recorded.”

Private radio broadcaster RMF FM said Polish radars had detected "a flight on the Belarusian side that did not encroach on Polish air space."

Polish army officials said that “with a sufficiently clear sky, the machines could have been visible from Białowieża and seemed to be flying on the Polish side,” RMF FM reported.

The machines spotted were a helicopter and an unmanned aerial vehicle, according to RMF FM.

The Belarusian army had earlier notified Polish officials it would carry out air exercises in the border area, TVP Info reported.

The Belarusian air drills were expected to last until 6 p.m. on Tuesday, RMF FM reported.

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, launching the largest military campaign in Europe since World War II.

Tuesday is day 524 of Russia’s war on Ukraine.
