During his stay in Washington, FM Sikorski will hold a series of meetings with U.S. government officials and experts from think tanks. The discussions will focus on security cooperation, strengthening transatlantic ties, and supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression.
From September 19 to 28, Poland's top diplomat will meet with U.S. administration representatives and policy experts. On Monday, September 23, in New York, Sikorski will participate in the 79th session of the UN General Assembly, along with a number of high-level meetings and related events.
Concluding his visit on September 27, the Polish Foreign Minister will travel to Detroit, Michigan, where he will meet with leadership and employees at General Dynamics Land Systems, the contractor for Poland's defense procurement of Abrams tanks.
While in Michigan, Sikorski is also scheduled to meet with the local Polish community and members of Congress from the state.
Sikorski emphasizes the importance of investment in security amid global challenges
On the first day of his visit to the USA, Minister Sikorski delivered a lecture at the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.
The Polish FM noted that the combined GDP of the European Union and the United States is close to 50 trillion dollars. He argued that spending a small percentage of that over 2.5 years to address the threat posed by a rogue, autocratic regime in Moscow is a reasonable investment.
"The longer we live in peace, the easier it is to forget an uncomfortable truth: only a small step separates our rules-based international order from chaos and the unimaginable suffering it brings. We saw this in Europe 80 years ago, and we see it now in Ukraine," Sikorski emphasized.
"We, Poland, will do whatever it takes not to become a Russian colony," emphasized FM Sikorski very clearly in his speech.
Before his departure to the United States, Poland's top diplomat was preparing for a series of speeches that he would soon deliver.
